Ford Pro has unveiled the Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid, Europe’s first hybrid pickup, with a striking campaign created by Wieden+Kennedy London. The initiative, titled More Power. Just in Case., highlights the Ranger PHEV’s unique blend of everyday utility and extraordinary performance.
The Ford Ranger has led the European pickup market for nine consecutive years, and this new Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) marks a significant milestone in the model’s history. The launch film, directed by Tim Godsall and shot by acclaimed cinematographer Nicolas Karakatsanis, takes a playful, cinematic approach to showcase the vehicle’s capabilities. From towing hay bales and powering heavy-duty tools to surreal feats like hauling UFOs in a hangar or charging laser cannons, the narrative leans into the joy of being “over-prepared.”
Beyond the theatrics, the Ranger PHEV delivers tangible power: more torque than any previous Ranger, including the diesel V6, as well as the ability to export electricity to a wide range of tools and equipment. The campaign challenges conventional perceptions of hybrid vehicles as underpowered, instead positioning the Ranger PHEV as uncompromising in strength and adaptability.
Currently live across the UK on digital, VOD, and DOOH platforms, the campaign will soon expand across Europe.
Richard Beard, marketing and communications manager at Ford Pro, described the launch as a landmark moment: “Bringing Europe’s first hybrid pick-up to market is a big moment, and it had to feel worthy of the Ranger name. ‘More Power, Just in Case’ shows exactly what the Ranger PHEV stands for: all the capability you expect, with more power and no compromise.”
Wieden+Kennedy London’s creative team echoed this sentiment, noting the campaign’s playful tone: “The Ranger PHEV is Europe’s first hybrid pickup, with more power than you’ll probably ever need. We had fun with that idea — the VO gets carried away reeling off what the truck could do, before catching himself. It felt like the perfect way to capture the joy of being over-prepared.”
With this launch, Ford reinforces its leadership in the pickup category while signaling a new chapter in sustainable mobility for commercial vehicles in Europe.
