Ramadan 2017: a real market for mass retailers: "Ramadan, which began on May 29 and ends on July 2, is a golden egg during this period of crisis for national retailers. During this month when the Muslims only eat and drink when the sun disappears behind the horizon, their consumption and the purchase of products increase. Indeed, during this particular month, the big Moroccan brands record up to 20pc or even 25pc of the turnover. Food products that recorded a large increase are: Filo paste, dates, curd, butter, and flour. Other foods such as soft drinks, fruit juices, and smoothies also benefit from an increase in consumption, just like honey and chocolates in bars for the energy brought before the fast."
