IKEA UK has unveiled its first-ever original song, the ‘Tidy Up Tune’, created to help parents and children tackle the stressful morning routine as schools reopen. The launch comes in response to new research showing that nearly half of UK parents (45%) find the morning rush to be the most challenging part of the school day.
According to IKEA’s study, parents spend an average of 10 minutes each morning searching for misplaced items—equivalent to three and a half days lost every year. This daily scramble leads to real consequences: 57% of parents admit their child has been late for school, while 31% say homework has gone missing in the chaos. Moreover, nearly two-thirds (65%) report that a hectic morning routine sets a negative tone for the rest of the day.
To provide a playful solution, IKEA partnered with the songwriters behind the popular children’s show Hey Duggee to compose the ‘Tidy Up Tune.’ With a catchy melody and lighthearted lyrics, the song turns chores into a game, encouraging kids to put away clothes, toys, and art supplies. Its chorus—“So if you see something on the floor… Could you pop it in a drawer? Or anywhere at all except the floor”—is designed to stick in young listeners’ minds while easing parents’ stress.
The initiative follows survey findings that 78% of parents would use a dedicated song to make tidying more engaging. Most parents (84%) believe it’s important for children to develop good tidying habits early, with 70% saying kids should start actively tidying their own spaces by the age of six.
Anna Arokiam, home furnishing and retail design manager at IKEA UK, explained: “For over 80 years, IKEA has been inside people’s homes, continuously learning how to make everyday life better and less stressful. Our ‘Tidy Up Tune’ is a playful way to empower children, reduce parental stress, and foster responsibility—showing that organisation doesn’t have to be boring.”
Alongside the song, IKEA highlights its range of kid-friendly storage, from the TIGERFINK bins for toys to the ocean-inspired BLÅVINGAD storage bags. Together, the brand hopes to help families transform chaotic mornings into smoother, more joyful routines.
