Amazon Ads has launched its new campaign, “Gain the Edge,” designed to demonstrate how small and midsize businesses (SMBs) can leverage targeted video advertising to reach their ideal customers effectively — even with limited budgets. Developed in partnership with the creative agency Anomaly, the campaign uses light-hearted sibling rivalry between two car dealerships to highlight how smart advertising tools can level the playing field for local businesses.
Entrepreneurship often calls for creativity and resourcefulness, especially when marketing budgets are tight amid ongoing economic challenges. Many SMBs cite difficulties in gaining meaningful value from advertising, citing wasted impressions and financial constraints as key barriers. Amazon Ads aims to address these concerns by offering accessible video advertising tools traditionally reserved for larger corporations.
The campaign features two 30-second spots depicting a sister frustrated by her competitor brother’s flashy dealership promotions. When her marketing employee introduces her to Amazon Ads, her online presence grows, boosting business. The brother soon follows suit, and both dealerships thrive, proving that effective, targeted advertising can help competitors succeed side by side.
Ludovic de Valon, director of product and SMB marketing at Amazon Ads, commented, “This campaign shows the power of advertising when you reach the right audience at the right time. Whether it’s a car dealership or a coffee shop, Amazon Ads helps cut through the noise to connect businesses with customers that matter.”
Ida Gronblom, executive creative director at Anomaly, added, “Standing out in a crowded market is a universal challenge. We used the sibling rivalry story as a fun way to show that smart advertising works across all industries. SMBs don’t need massive budgets or extravagant campaigns to grow — they just need the right tools.”
By highlighting relatable competition and practical marketing solutions, Amazon Ads’ “Gain the Edge” campaign offers a hopeful message for local businesses striving to make a significant impact despite resource constraints.
