CANAL+ has confirmed a major breakthrough in sports broadcasting across the continent. Its subsidiary SuperSport has secured the English and Portuguese broadcast rights for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025™, reinforcing the group’s ambition to deliver football to African audiences in their preferred languages.

Set to kick off on 21 December 2025 in Morocco, the tournament will make CANAL+ the first global broadcaster to offer full coverage in French, English, Portuguese, and multiple local African languages. This multilingual approach marks a new benchmark in how major sporting events are shared across diverse regions and cultures.

The agreement, finalized on 06 November 2025, extends to all English and Portuguese-speaking Sub-Saharan African countries. It ensures that millions of football fans will experience the competition on SuperSport, DStv, GOtv and CANAL+ Sport, as well as via streaming through the CANAL+ app.

For David Mignot, CEO of CANAL+ Africa, the partnership reflects the advantages of the recently completed merger between CANAL+ and MultiChoice.
“This collaboration allows us to combine strengths and deliver unprecedented coverage. Broadcasting in multiple languages builds genuine proximity with our audiences. Our subscribers will be part of the most spectacular celebration of African football,” he stated.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe highlighted the significance of the event’s global reach.
“In Ivory Coast, the latest AFCON drew around 1.5 billion viewers worldwide. This year’s edition promises to be even more impactful, inspiring new audiences. The world is excited about African football,” he affirmed.

SuperSport’s Director of Sport Content for English and Portuguese-speaking Africa, Rendani Ramovha, emphasized the broadcaster’s longstanding relationship with fans:
“SuperSport has been the home of football for millions. This tournament will be no exception, with a dedicated AFCON channel and coverage in languages as varied as English, Pidgin, Portuguese, Swahili, isiZulu, and Setswana.”

The broadcast will feature in-depth analysis, pre- and post-match programming, and contributions from icons of African football. Viewers can expect to follow stars such as Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Victor Osimhen (Nigeria), Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Sadio Mané (Senegal), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria) and Ronwen Williams (South Africa).

As anticipation builds for Morocco 2025, CANAL+ and SuperSport position themselves as key players in uniting the continent around its most beloved sport — with a broadcast experience tailored to the voices, cultures, and passion of African audiences.
