PayPal Australia has launched the largest consumer campaign in its history, fronted by Hollywood actor and comedian Will Ferrell. The initiative, unveiled this September, promotes the benefits of PayPal’s “Pay in 4” service, allowing Australians to spread payments into four instalments without late fees or interest across millions of online retailers.
The ad, set on a commercial flight, shows Ferrell in typical comedic fashion taking over the in-flight announcements from a startled cabin crew member. Between humorous riffs on spelling and bathroom etiquette, he delivers the core message: “Pay in 4 with no interest and no late fees with PayPal.”
The campaign will be broadcast during some of Australia’s most-watched sporting events, including the AFL Grand Final and NRL Grand Final, before rolling out across free-to-air TV, broadcast video on demand, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Binge, and other streaming platforms. It forms part of PayPal’s global brand refresh led by Publicis Groupe, showcasing the company’s new logo and visual identity.
Caitlin Hoey, head of consumer marketing at PayPal Australia, said the initiative reflects the brand’s ambition to connect more strongly with shoppers as the busiest retail season approaches. “This is the largest consumer campaign PayPal has ever run in Australia, and we’re thrilled it features iconic A-list actor Will Ferrell, whose universal humour resonates across generations,” she noted.
Beyond television and streaming, the campaign will extend through a broad multi-channel push, including outdoor advertising, digital platforms, audio, influencers, and social media. With “Pay in 4,” PayPal is reinforcing its position as a trusted leader in online checkout, offering Australians secure, flexible, and interest-free ways to manage their spending.
