Spotify and TikTok have teamed up to launch Big on BookTok, a dedicated hub where book lovers can discover and share audiobooks tied to TikTok’s most talked-about titles and authors. The page, unveiled Wednesday, will run until November and update biweekly with fresh “current obsessions” and “hottest authors,” based on real-time TikTok trends.
For Roshni Radia, Spotify’s audiobooks editorial manager for Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, the initiative is about giving niche communities a voice. A fan of “cozy crime” — mysteries solved by unlikely amateur sleuths, free of gore — Radia said the project recognizes the diversity of reading tastes: “Our editorial wants to talk to every single book-loving community.”
BookTok, the TikTok hashtag that’s amassed over 52 million posts from readers and authors, served as the blueprint. Its influence is clear in the launch lineup:
- The Summer I Turned Pretty (1M TikTok posts, adapted into an Amazon Prime series)
- A Court of Thorns and Roses (a “romantasy” favorite with 191,000 mentions)
- Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (a trending pick ahead of the Wicked: For Good movie release in November).
Radia said the goal is to capture the excitement of discovery: “We’re encouraging people to share what they’re listening to — that joy of finding something brand-new and wanting to tell everyone about it.”
The partnership aligns with Spotify’s broader push to strengthen community-led listening. Recent efforts include its Fan Life campaign for superfans, Glow for LGBTQ+ artists, and in-app direct messaging launched in August to boost social sharing of music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
With 350,000+ audiobooks and 696 million monthly active users, Spotify remains the world’s largest audio platform. Its Q2 2025 earnings reported a 10% revenue increase year-over-year and 12% growth in subscribers.
